The number of stolen guns reported to police in 10 major cities rose 29 percent in recent months, via data compiled by The Wall Street Journal.
Guns often are stolen from vehicles.
A record number of Americans purchased guns over the past two years, driven by protests and rising crime, adds the Journal.
Murders rose nearly 20 percent in 2020 from 2019 and remained at elevated levels last year, the Journal points out.
