That’s Rep. Ilhan Omar, a far-left, first-term Democrat from Minnesota’s 5th congressional district.
In her latest controversial comments, as reported by CNSNews, she blames the U.S. for the problems in Venezuela.
"A lot of the policies that we have put in place has kind of helped lead the devastation in Venezuela,” says Omar. “And we’ve sort of set the stage for where we’re arriving today. This particular bullying and the use of sanctions to eventually intervene and make regime change really does not help the people of countries like Venezuela, and it certainly does not help and is not in the interest of the United States."
In response, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says “for a member of Congress, who, frankly, one who sits on an important national security committee, to make a statement blaming America first in this way, it’s not only ignorant, it’s disgusting."
The problems in Venezuela, adds Pompeo, “have been years in the making. It has been a socialist regime, first with Chavez, now with Maduro.”
